a tag a day til christmas

tag #5 (85 tags til christmas)

this picture doesn't show the beautiful background. i used the large background stamp from the season of joy set, inked with versamark. its a simple and unique addition for any package or card.

Monday

too straight technique

so i have to admit i am ocd when it comes to stamping...ok, in a lot of things...but getting objects lined up perfectly is pretty important. when stamping words or names do you opt for punching the letters out or staggering them so you don't have to line them up? yep, that's me too!

so when mom calls and wants a word...all in one line...i was fine until i sat down and picked up the first alpha block. hmm...there has to be a quick way to do this... i got out my grid board and a clear plastic FLAT ruler. its important its flat...that's why i capatilized it.

i put my ruler two squares up from the bottom of my paper (i noted that because i had to place my "i" then move the ruler so it would completely stamp..just the "i"...it must be needy. then i knew where to put my ruler for the next one). make sure you load your stamp evenly with ink and wipe off any excess you get on the sides. line the bottom of the rubber up with the edge of the ruler. not the edge of the wood because each stamp may be in a different place. then press. if your ruler is too thick it won't let the image stamp completely so practice first...mine's pretty thick and it was ok. load the next stamp..ok now this takes some concentration...watch the spacing inbetween each letter and make sure not to squish or spread them. the ruler markings help here.

suggestions: stamp each letter you will be using on a scrap piece first to see if your letters are straight on the blocks...my "u" is a little crooked on the block so i have to compensate. i could straighten it but i haven't.
note: the stampa-ma-jig would also work for this...but i don't have one...yes, its on the list

Tuesday

Priceless notes

this priceless lil' purse, using stampin' up! sets priceless and warm words, would be a fun project for you and your friends to make. what are you waiting for? let's plan a party today!

Friday

yarn!

have you ever been to one of those sales where they give you a brown bag and everything in it is like $10? do you think they make one of those bags big enough for all this great yarn wal mart just got in? not only is it triple stacked on the end cap but look at the picture....around the corner it is piled high up above all the other yarn.

nope...have no idea what i would do with all of it but wouldn't it be fun to have?!

dang dog

so i have these three dogs...this really does have something to do with stamping...and they are a pain in the butt! kosmo, the rottweiler, is the only behaved one (most of the time), but its only because he is a deputy sheriff (k-9) and has to obey the rules...although he can be a pain too (all 120lbs of him). the youngest of the bunch is oscar who is also the fluffy, cute one. don't let that fool you tho because he is actually dr. jekyl and mr. hyde reincarnated! then there is rex. she is a blue heeler and doesn't have any cows to herd so she attempts to herd us. she belongs to my son...who recently moved out...so i ask myself daily..and rex...why she is still here...SHE is the reason i am posting today.
last night i decided to make cookies with the sole purpose being so i could put one in my trick or treat wrap sample so you could see what i was thinking there. i left them on the counter to cool...with the usual "rex-proofing" that consists of stacking "stuff" along the counter so she cant reach her pointy nose to my cookies...well, IT DIDN'T WORK! she still got them! so i had to piece a couple cookies together for the picture..cussing the dang dog the whole time. today i am packing her bags for her and calling her father to come get her....which won't happen because his apartment can't have pets...i should have that policy here!

UPDATE-
from mom..."don't give poor rexie away....eating cookies is in her genes too"...so she should let rexie live with her! she loves going to visit grandma and running in her backyard during "doggie summer camp" while we go on vacation
